Planes, trains and automobiles...

The challenge this week at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog is TRAVEL. Where have you been, where do you want to go, what destination do you dream of going to? It can be a place, or it can be a card like mine below...showing someone on their way to their next destination.

The image I used is from our sponsor, The Paper Shelter. The name of the image is Bon Voyage. I don't think she has to be getting on a ship...to me she looks like she's headed to her next destination in some fashion, but not necessarily on a ship. I thought she represented the topic TRAVEL quite well.

This card was fun to make. For one thing, I made my background paper. I took out all my travel stamps and stamped on pink paper with brown ink. It's kinda hard to see, but there's all different countries represented. Then I went through all my words and found some that seemed like they would fit with the topic. I used some washi tape up in the corner under my silk bow. I found this little camera charm in my charm box and tied to the bow. My papers are just a hodge podge of pink and brown that I had. The pink jewels in the bottom corner are from my stash. I put some glitter on her heart stockings, on the frill of her shirt and on her earrings and hair tie. And my latest die purchase is that adorable "Lovely View" die from Little Darlings made by Spellbinders and cut out with my favorite little machine, the Cuttlebug. Did you have a View Master when you were younger?  I'll never forget mine. That was the beginning of 3-D pictures. It was awesome and I travelled all over the world with my View Master. I went to England, France, China, Niagara Falls, national forests and assorted places within the United States. I can't even remember all the places I went, but I was a world traveler who never needed a passport! hahaha!

Here's a close-up of the image. You can see how I used some grayish-tan chalk to go around my image because I felt the white was just too white. I thought the chalk was a better idea to do this because I was afraid if I used a Copic pen, it might touch a color on the image and then leave a streak on the white area of the paper that I was trying to shade just a tiny bit.

The Design Team at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog have made awesome cards to inspire you and to show you what we mean by the topic TRAVEL.  There are lots of stamps that fit the topic over at  The Paper Shelter and I hope you use one of our stamps for this challenge! The below badge tells you why!

I'm glad you stopped by and I hope to see you join the challenge!

                                                                                     Hugs,
                                                                                     Gail

  6. This is adorably colored and put together, Gail. Great background, made yourself - so many times we forget that possibility, with all the fabulous paper choices we have nowadays! Wow, the perfect "find" in your charms to actually have a camera. Nice touch of washi tape (I'm finding I love that stuff) and the diecut reel. Of course, the pink and brown together are a great choice. Lovely card for the world traveller !!
